FOR THOSE WHO MOCK TEBOW, TONIGHT WASN'T YOUR NIGHT & OTHER NOTES

As Tim Tebow ran for the winning touchdown tonight, I made two important decisions. One, I have officially given up on the New York Jets, at least as a playoff contender they can't be taken seriously. Two, I will no longer pick against Denver in any game they have even an outside chance of winning. Enough is enough on both counts.

I've given up on the Jets for several reasons, mostly because I think QB Mark Sanchez's confidence is completely shot. His answers & body language in the post game news conference was anything but positive. He looks like a loser, which would make sense because he continues to make 2 or 3 horrible plays per game that really cost his team. The Pick-6 he threw in the 3rd quarter came at a time when Denver's offense was absolutely non-existent, they were in the midst of eight consecutive three & outs. All Sanchez has to do is not make a terrible mistake. Of course he did & Andre Goodman ran it back for Denver's first touchdown, tying the game at 10-all. The Jets, at 5-5, aren't going to make the playoffs. They'd need to win out, which isn't going to happen. Maybe this will mark the last of Rex Ryan's big mouth, this season anyway. In his post game press appearance, Ryan said "we played a great game, we held them to 229-yards." Your team scored 13 freakin' points, that's great? Yes, you held Denver to just 134-total yards until the last drive, but what about that last drive? What about that last play? Tebow's in an empty backfield, it's 3rd & 4, he wants to run the ball, so your defense blitzes 8 men without any outside contain, that's the best play against a QB who can run the ball? Once he made the corner it was just a matter if cornerback Dominique Rogers-Cromartie could get off his block & stop Tebow. I didn't see much of an effort & Tebow scored. I listened to WEEI in New York yesterday afternoon on a live stream & the way the two hosts & every single caller mocked Tim Tebow, ridiculed him, laughed at him, it brought a smile to my face as he crossed the goal line with the winning score & I hate the freakin' donkeys. To the Jets apologists, no excuses about the short week, the travel, injuries, wake up & smell the coffee, your team is over.

As for the Broncos, realistically, they aren't a playoff team either. But when they started the last drive at their own 5-yard line, not many people figured the Broncos would drive the length of the field & score the winning touchdown. Ten of the previous twelve possessions had ended in a 3 & out. But drive 95-yards they did & tho he played poorly for most of the game, Tebow was magic down the stretch. He accounted for 93 of the 95-yards, running for 57-yards & had 3 completions for another 36. The other thing the Broncos have going for them is their young pass rushers, Elvis Dumervil & rookie Von Miller. This pair will be a real force in Bronco-land for a long time. They pounded on Mark Sanchez, sacked him 3 times & knocked him down another 6 times. Tho one should have been roughing the passer, these guys are something special. Miller even wears #58, his salute to another #58, Derrick Thomas. Including tonight's game, Miller has 9.5 sacks, half a sack more than the entire Chiefs team.

The Ravens got some very bad news Thursday afternoon, Future Hall of Fame MLB Ray Lewis will miss this Sunday's game with Cincinnati & maybe more. He has a toe injury that might not get better anytime soon which could be a huge blow to Baltimore's playoff hopes. Lewis hasn't missed a game since the '07 season.

Another factor I neglected to mention this afternoon about Gary Pinkel's suspension this weekend for the Texas Tech game, it's Senior Day. Twenty-eight young men Pinkel recruited will leave the tunnel for the last time without that handshake & embrace from their coach, the man who convinced them to become a Tiger. I hope as Pinkel watches the game on his family room big screen, he realizes how much he has hurt these kids & their parents. I sincerely hope Gary Pinkel never, ever does something like this again.

Also missing all practices this weeks include rookie WR's Julio Jones of Atlanta & the Bengals A.J. Green. Michael Vick has yet to test his broken ribs & cardinal QB Kevin Kolb will not play Sunday in San Francisco, his turf toe is no better.

Disgruntled & disappointed fans of the Kansas City Chiefs have one piece of good news, they won't have to pay more for their season tickets next year. In fact many of the seats in the end zone will actually go down in price. Sideline tickets will remain the same. To hear the Chiefs' version of it, well I won't bother you with their version, suffice to say it might well have made you nauseous like it did me.

Former Green Bay defensive tackle Johnny Jolley was sentenced to 6-years in a Texas State prison. He was convicted for possession of codeine with the intent to distribute. It was his second conviction for the same offense. Jolley was an every game starter in 2008-09 before running afoul of Texas law enforcement. What a waste, but like so many who haven't been able to successfully beat an addiction, Jolley had a promising career that is now circling the drain.
