OUT OF NOWHERE...........KU HIRES CHARLIE WEIS
Talk about flying under the radar, Kansas athletic director Sheahon Zenger has signed Charlie Weis to become the new head coach for the Jayhawks. This marks Weis' fourth coaching stop in 4-years. He was head coach at Notre Dame & was forced out. Then he joined the Kansas City Chiefs as offensive coordinator. But after several incidents involving his daughter, his wife wanted out of Kansas City..
The story goes his daughter, a special needs child, was left on the school bus, twice. Certainly horrifying to any parent. New Florida head coach Wil Muschamp offered Weis the O-Coordinator's position with the Florida Gators & Weis could bring his son as a coaching intern. Two problems arose in Gainesville, Urban Meyer left very little in the way of offensive talent & Weis & Muschamp never really connected.
Now Weis will return to the Midwest to join the Jayhawks. Since the expectations for the football program aren't very high in Lawrence, I don't see a downside for Weis in his newest position. He will be formally introduced at a campus press conference tomorrow.
