UNDER OATH......MCQUEARY TELLS THE TRUTH, THINGS LOOK REALLY BAD FOR PENN STATE, TIGERS TO GET NEW UNIS & AN EXTENSIVE NFL INJURY LIST

Remember when Penn State receivers coach Mike McQueary told his former teammates that he had put a stop to Jerry Sandusky's sexual molestation of a young boy in the showers? He sent out several emails claiming he intervened in the boy's behalf even tho he said nothing of the sort during his grand jury testimony. A preliminary hearing began this morning in the perjury trial of former athletic director Tim Curley & vice president of finance Gary Shultz. They are accused of lying to the grand jury & failing to report an alleged assault on a child to law enforcement. The prosecution's star witness is McQueary & today, under oath, McQueary stuck to his grand jury testimony, not his email claims. Bottom line, he did absolutely nothing that march Friday night in 2002. The judge heard enough to hold the pair over for trial.

If Curley & Schultz are found guilty, university lawyers should commence with the out of court settlements. I think we're lookin' at tens of millions of dollars from a school's administration that chose to look the other way, stick their collective heads in the sand, while young boys were assaulted & abused. Curley, Schultz, McQueary & even JoePa could face civil litigation as well. The sooner the settlements are made, the sooner Penn State can begin to rebuild their reputation. One of my nieces is a high school honor student & has received invitations to apply or to take a campus tour from all over the nation. She got a letter from Penn State that began

"Here at Penn State, we've have taken quite a hit nationally, but the university is still a place you can receive a high quality education."

Pretty much says it all doesn't it? Yes, they've taken a hit & more hits are just around the corner. But the school is still sound, even tho they've got a P.R. problem that's off the charts.

I have two shoutouts going to a couple of good friends. Kris K. out at Bellagio has to be proud as her Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks knocked off Mount Union for the Division III national championship. Yeah, they settle it the proper way, with an 8-team playoff. It was W-W 4th national title in the past 5-years. Kyle R. played for the Pittsburgh State Gorilla's & his alma mater is playing in the Division II national championship game tomorrow in Alabama versus Wayne State of Michigan. The third championship will be decided next Saturday. Sam Houston State played their way into the championship games by outlasting Montana State 31-28 tonight. The 14-0 Bearkats will face the winner of Georgia Southern vs. North Dakota State to be played Saturday.

The Mizzou Tigers will have a new look to go with their new conference affiliation. Nike(on how I fear this)has several new uniforms for the Tigers to mix & match beginning next season. One reason I am holding out hope is head coach Gary Pinkel has final say-so on uniform approval & he said he doesn't want anything that's a radical departure from the look they've had since he came to Columbia 11-years ago.

There's an awful lot of NFL injury news, so let's get to it. Houston WR Andre Johnson will miss another week, his 8th of the last nine, with a hamstring injury.

Cleveland QB Colt McCoy is still suffering the effects of his concussion received in a helmet-to-helmet hit by James Harrison last Thursday. The hit got Harrison a 1-game suspension for repeated violations, it might sideline McCoy for the remainder of the season. Seneca Wallace will start for the Browns this Sunday in Arizona.

Detroit RB Kevin Smith will return to the starting lineup Sunday at Oakland. Safety Louis Delmas also returns to the starting lineup. For the Raiders, it will be just another week without RB Darren McFragile & WR Jacoby Ford. Both have been sidelined most of the season with foot injuries. RB Taiwan Jones & safety Michael Huff are also doubtful after missing practice all week.

The St. Louis Rams will start Kellen Clemens at quarterback for Sam Bradford who re-injured his ankle last Monday night.

The Giants will be without DE Osi Umenyiora in their divisional battle with the Washington Redskins. Fellow D-lineman Justin Tuck is questionable with a toe injury.

The Chiefs will have a new starter at quarterback, thank you Romeo Crennell. Kyle Orton has had no difficulty taking snaps or throwing the ball after dislocating his index finger on his only snap for the Chiefs. Rookie Ricky Stanzi will be the backup & Tyler Palko as the emergency quarterback, right where he belongs.

I'm getting some very interesting emails regarding the Chiefs future coach, the draft, trades, etc. I'll answer them tonight.
