COLTS MAY HAVE BLOWN LUCK PICK, BOISE ROUTS ASU AS MOORE FINISHES 50-3 & 'HAWKS GET HEAPS
I had a bad feeling about the Colts tonight & they crapped all over my pick of the Houston Texans, winning 19-16. But honestly, how do you pick a 1-13 team against a 10-4 team? This is the first time a 1-win team beat a 10-win team in league history but as the Texans were being penalized play after play on the final Colts' drive, you could see it coming. The wining margin was provided by a 1-yard pass from Dan Orlovsky to Reggie Wayne with just 19-seconds remaining in the game. The loss by Houston scuttles their chances for a 1st round bye. They will host a game on Wildcard Weekend, not what the banged up Texans were working for but their lack of offense since their 1st two QB's went down will end up costing them any chance in the playoffs. Talk about cost, with the win, the Colts are close to blowing the 1st overall pick which would be Stanford QB Andrew Luck. The Colts must lose next Sunday at Jacksonville to clinch the first overall pick. They're now tied with 2-12 Minnesota, who plays at Washington Saturday, & 2-12 St. Louis, who plays at Pittsburgh. If they end up tied, Indy would receive the 1st pick on tie breakers. If Indy would happen to beat 4-10 Jacksonville next week, their fans, who suffered thru an 0-13 start, won't be very happy with their team winning the last three to totally screw them in the draft.
Boise State blasted Arizona State tonight in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl, 56-24. The game was the 50th win for quarterback Kellen Moore. He finished his Bronco career 50-3. Two of those losses were on errant field goals the past two seasons & the third was a 1-point loss to TCU in the 2008 Pointsettia Bowl. In his 53-starts, Boise was never behind by more than 7-points. He beat Oregon twice, Virginia Tech, Georgia & went 3-1 in Bowl games. Arizona State looked every bit as bad as they had down the stretch, losing 4-straight. Their rushing game was non-existent, 21 carries for -11 yards. Highly touted MLB Vontaze Burfict was benched to start the game & when he was inserted he got in trouble yet again & was benched. he will most likely leave ASU, he's burned too many bridges, but he'll have to clean up his act if he wants an NFL career. These sort of things are why Dennis Erickson is no longer head coach. The MVP of the game had to be Boise RB Doug Martin. He returned the opening kickoff 100-yards for a score & the Broncos never looked back. He also carried 31-times for 151-yards & a touchdown. His 301-total yards set a bowl record. Now we'll watch as Boise State moves to the Big East Conference, replaces Moore with Joe Southwick & 14 other starters. Head coach Chris Peterson, 73-6 at BSU, will have his hands full next season. It will be interesting to see how they progress.

Kellen Moore, NCAA all-time leader with 50-wins
I told you earlier today that new Kansas coach Charlie Weis had gotten a commitment from former Notre Dame QB Dayne Crist & there was a possibility BYU QB Jake Heaps might make move to Lawrence as well. It's a done deal, Heaps confirmed tonight he was transferring to Kansas & will be eligible to play in 2013. Heaps was ranked the #1 pro-style QB by Rivals.com in the 2010 high school class. They'll need help, but this is a major coup for Weis & his efforts to rebuild the Jayhawk program.
